East
Pitching Staff One-Hits Rivals in 8-1 Contest
East Division shortstop Alex
Rodriguez didn’t waste any time as he hit a homerun to begin the 2004
IAL All-Star Game. As a
matter of fact, neither did the rest of the East lineup who all got a
chance to bat in the top of the first.
West starter Brad Radke gave up 6 runs in the first before being
relieved by Livian Hernandez.
And that was all they needed.
Well, they didn’t even need that many.
The East Division pitching staff hurled a brilliant one-hitter
winning 8-1. West Division
third-sacker Scott Rolen led off the bottom of the 7th with a
double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Todd Helton.
That would be the only hit the West would get all day.
Starting Outfielder Vernon
Wells had a good day with the stick.
Wells was 3 for 4 with 3 rbis and a homerun with a stolen base.
He was chosen All-Star Game MVP.
Starter Pedro Martinez who pitched a flawless 2 innings was the
winner. West starter Brad
Radke who lasted 1/3 of an inning and gave up 6 earned runs was the
losing pitcher.
Much credit for the East
Division win goes to manager Nick Ventresca who was indeed the "Master
Tactician".
