West Exact Revenge:  Outhit, Outscore East in All-Star Contest

Guerrero Named MVP

Coming off of last year's one-hit embarrassment, the West Division took no prisoners in 2005's All-Star Game.  With 3 homeruns and 6 extra-base hits, they made a statement winning 8-4.  After two strikeouts to start the game, Albert Pujols jacked a solo shot to pace the the game.  As a matter of fact, the West scored in each of the first four innings and never looked back.

Vladimir Guerrero went 3 for 5 with a homer, double and 4 rbis.  His two-run double sealed the East's fate in the seventh inning.  Guerrero was named the Game MVP.  Tom Glavine was the winning pitcher.  While not qualifying as a save, Billy Wagner still came in to finish the game in the ninth inning and did so in one-two-three fashion.  Brad Penny got the loss.

The other West homerun was hit by thirdbasemen Scott Rolen who incidentally was the only West Division player to get a hit in 2004's All-Star Game.  For the East Division, Manny Ramirez and Gary Sheffield had homeruns.

Secondbaseman reserve Orlando Hudson made two fantastic plays in the field immediately after being brought into the game including a diving stop that would have probably have normally been an hit.
