Marcus Bunch and Rob Moore face off in the World Series

Comeback Kid Wins it All!

Marcus Bunch and the Moline Upperdeckers came back from behind in the playoffs and the World Series to take the IAL Championship.  The World Series was a real nail-biter as Moline was down 0 games to 3 before winning the last four to win the series.

The Upperdeckers first defeated the Twin City Thunderchickens 3-1 after being shut out in the first game and losing the lead in the second game.  They came back to win that game and won the next two to win the playoff series.

In the World Series, Rob Moore and the Chicago Highlanders, fresh off their playoff defeat of the Northside Hitmen, came on strong in the World Series and won the first three games against the 'Deckers.  Moline came back, won three games to tie it.  Consistent with the theme, the Upperdeckers won a come-from-behind victory in Game 7 (which included Todd Helton's nothing-short -of-magical "blessing of the dice incident) to clinch the IAL Championship.

Congratulations to Marcus!

After Draft, Greinke, Upton Consider Themselves Champions

They may have just begun their career in the IAL but Zack Greinke and B.J. Upton are already champions.  Chicago Champions, that is.  The Chicago Champions with the first two picks in the draft, pick starter Greinke and IF Upton.  They also picked 1B Justin Morneau with the 3rd pick in the draft.

There seemed to be a immediate need for pitching help as there was a run on pitchers after the first round.  Seven of the 10 first round picks were for position players.  After that, 16 of the remaining 22 rookies were pitchers.
