Beanos Manager Attends APBA
Convention in Vegas!
Rising Bamm! Beanos manager
John Brandeberry and his girlfriend Maggie Stephens attended the APBA
convention in Las Vegas sponsored by the APBA Game Co. Both entered the
tournament. John managed the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers. In the
first round, John's Dodgers went 6-4 and ended with a two-game sweep of
the '61 Yankees. Knowing John and his love of the Brooklyn Dodgers,
that had to feel good. Maggie
took the 1976 Cincinnati Reds. Maggie not only made it out of the
first round but had the best winning record (8-2) of the first
round! Unfortunately, Maggie was defeated in the quarterfinals by
the '82 Cardinals. The
winner of the tournament was APBA old-timer Eric Naftaly, former editor of
the APBA Journal. "It was good to see someone like Eric who has
given so much to the game win the tournament", said John. The
keynote speaker of the convention was Jack "the Cardfather"
Kohn, former editor of the APBA Innings. As usual, they got a chance to
chat with Marc, Skeet and Veryl from the Company. A
good time was had by both John and Maggie at the convention and they found some time to
visit the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Congrats to both!!
