| The date is set! Oct 9th is the day the East meets
West. The ballots are in as well and the starters have been
determined. Check out the starting roster for both the East
and West squads.
The big story for the East Division is that 6 of the 8 starters are
from the first place Northside Hitmen. Only Bret Boone from
the Chicago Champions and outfielder Vernon Wells from the Chicago
Highlanders add a little variety to this team.
Five of the 8 West Division starters were unanimously chosen by fellow
managers. Jason Varitek, Todd Helton, Alfonso Soriano, Scott Rolen,
and Albert Pujols all garnered 9 first place votes, the maximum amount
possible. On the East Division team, Bret Boone, Alex Rodriguez, and
Manny Ramirez also were unanimously chosen.
The closest race was East shortstop, won by Edgar Renteria over Rafael
Furcal and Nomar Garciaparra by a point total of 29, 24 and 23 respectively.
Furcal garnered his second place showing by virtue of 6 second place
votes.
