The inaugural season for the IAL was almost its last, the league folded about 120 games into the year. There were some amazing numbers put up in that abbreviated campaign. In about 3/4 of the way, Ralph Garr had 22 triples, Co-MVP Joe Morgan hit 54 doubles & scored 137 runs, and Lou Brock had 97 stolen bases. Cy Young Award winner Ferguson Jenkins was the leader in wins with a 21-7 mark. Co-MVP Dick Allen was the big bopper, topping in homers (43) & RBIs (102). Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson, Jim Wynn, Larry Hisle, Davey Lopes, Carl Morton, & Bert Blyleven, helped Don Smith & his Davenport Fire to the League Championship. Interestingly the league finished 37 games over .500.
