I’ll post some updates on the Highlander-Gamblers series, as it has playoff implications. We started at 1 pm, and the Gamblers took game 1; the Highlanders have since taken games 2, 3, and 4. I’ll post updates in the comments!

Game 5 Chris Davis continues hitting (13 RBIS in 5 games, 4 HR) and the Highlanders take a 4-1 lead. Ian Snell thrown 7 scoreless innings.
Gamblers take game 6 behind CC Sabathia, 4-0. Magglio Ordonez, playing for Ryan Braun, hits a key 2-run home run.
Series 4-2 Highlanders
Highlanders 82-77, Gamblers 84-75.
The bane of IAL managers: Extra Innings in the final series. Tied 2-2 in the 9th of game 7.
Gamblers win 3-2 in the 10th to make the series 4-3. Magglio’s PH single in the 10th wins it.
Game 8: Highlanders win 6-5 to make it 5-3; Frank Thomas doubles with two outs in the 9th in his final IAL at-bat.
Game 9: Andrew Miller (DYW) vs. Scott Kazmir (BXYW)
Todd doesn’t know this – going into game 162, I have 1 graded inning left.
Todd rolls a 66-0 and makes an out.
MIller gives up 7 runs in 6 innings, and the Gamblers win 10-4 to make the series 5-4 Highlanders. Chris Davis didn’t drive in another run after driving in 13 in the first 5 games.
This makes the 4-way tie for 4th place a possibility…
Chicago Highlanders: 83-79
Three Rivers Gamblers: 86-76
did Todd know you were writing all this?
Yes, though it didn’t occur to me starting doing it until after game 4.
“Todd rolls a 66-0 and makes an out.”
Knowing Todd, I’m sure he took that very gracefully.
“Knowing Todd, I’m sure he took that very gracefully.”
Now THAT’S FUNNY !!!
Interesting note after finishing my stats for the year: Chris Davis had 51 hits and 52 RBI – I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone do that for me before (some of the biggest RBI seasons in IAL history have had this phenomena occur). He also had 17 doubles, 3 triples, and 18 homers – 38 of his 51 hits were for extra bases.
