Derek Jeter: 2644 career hits is good for 3rd place |
Adam Wainwright: 2011 ERA of 1.96 is 8th best all-time |
I’ve updated the all-time IAL career and single season records page. It’s one of my favorite tasks I do for the league.
Here are the links to the leaderboards:
Each year I do this, I like to do a wrap-up especially concerning the active players. Which ones are climbing the ranks and which performances from last year landed on the single season lists.
Changes in the past year in All-time career top ten lists
Chipper Jones (1490) and Manny Ramirez (1468) both cracked the top ten in runs scored.
Derek Jeter crept to third all-time in hits with (2644). Only Cal Ripken and Wade Boggs have more.
Alex Rodriguez is now second in career homeruns with 599 (he’s since gotten his 600th this season). Only Barry Bonds (655) has more. Two other active players, Manny Ramirez (563) and Chipper Ramirez (492) but their time is limited.
Those same three Ramirez, Rodriguez and Jones, lead all active players in rbis. Ramirez passed Cal Ripken in 2011 for fourth place with 1685.
Albert Pujols is the only member of the career .600 slugging percentage group however Joe Mauer (.402) snuck in and joined Wade Boggs (.411) as another member of the .400 OBP club.
Pitching-wise, Billy Wagner (782) and Mariano Rivera (774) are moving up the career games pitched ladder. They are at 5th and 6th respectively.
Livan Hernandez is all over the career charts. He is currently:
- 7th in wins with 208
- 6th in innings pitched with 3299 2/3
- 5th in complete games with 143
- 6th in walks with 1171
One big change… Mariano Rivera passed the innings requirement to qualify to get listed among ERA leaders. He is now listed as the all-time ERA leader with a 2.93 ERA now ahead of Catfish Hunter’s 3.11 mark.
Speaking of Rivera, the saves category is one that always needs updating each year. Rivera is the undoubted leader with 435 saves with Billy Wagner in second with 307. Francisco Rodriguez comes in fourth after Doug Jones with 239.
Highlights of the single season top ten lists
No one dominated one single category more than Ichiro Suzuki. Of the top ten highest season at-bat totals, he has seven of them. Interestingly, his 2007 figure of 682 which places fourth all time, was good for second that year. Michael Young beat him out by three at-bats and is third all-time.
The list of new (2011) entries in the single season top ten:
Adam Dunn (187) and Matt Kemp (178) both made the top ten in strikeouts (4th and 7th respectively). Dunn has the current record with 200 in 2007.
Chase Utley clocks in at 7th in HBP with 26. Prince Fielder has the record with 30 in 2009.
Looking at pitchers, there were only two major categories breached in 2011.
K-Rod’s 49 saves in 2011 was good for fifth place all-time. 1992 Bryan Harvey holds the mark still with 55.
A big one was broken by Adam Wainwright. His 1.96 ERA was good enough for 8th best all time. Roger Clemens’ 2006 ERA of 1.66 is IAL’s all-time best.
Congrats to all players and their managers!
